About Melissa
Growing up, my mom made birthdays special.
Every year there was something to look forward to. A theme. A cake. Invitations. Friends. Games. Little details she had thought about just for me.
I can still remember some of them. A roller skating party. A bubble gum cake. Laughing with my friends.
But when I think back now, what I remember most isn’t what the decorations looked like or what gifts I received.
I remember how it felt.
I felt special.Seen.Loved.Celebrated.
I knew that for one day, someone had taken the time to create something just for me.
And that feeling stayed with me.

Then I became a mom.
For the past 15 years, I’ve had the joy of creating those same kinds of moments for my own three children.
And somewhere along the way, I realized the part I loved most wasn’t choosing decorations or finding the perfect cake.
It was figuring out how to make the celebration feel like them.
- What are they obsessed with this year?
- What makes them laugh?
- What’s the thing they’ve loved since they were little?
- What’s something unexpected I could include that would make their face light up?

“Do you do this professionally?”
Over the years, I started creating celebrations for friends and family, too. And people kept asking me that.
Eventually, I realized maybe I should.
And Wonder & Whim was born.
I don’t think the party is the point. The person is.
That’s why I don’t want our first conversation to be about what theme you picked.
I want you to tell me about them.
- Tell me what makes them laugh.
- What they’re into right now.
- The weird little thing they can’t get enough of.
- The story you always tell about them.
- The things only you would know.
Because those are the details that can turn a beautiful party into something that feels unmistakably theirs.

And I want you to experience it, too.
As parents, we put so much energy into creating memories for our children that sometimes we forget to actually be in them.
I’ve been that mom. Thinking about the cake. The decorations. Whether everyone has what they need. What happens next.
Wonder & Whim is my opportunity to give some of that time back to you.
I want you to walk into the celebration and breathe.
- Watch their face.
- Laugh with them.
- Take the picture you’re actually in.
And remember why this particular day matters so much in the first place.
Because they’re only this version of themselves once.
Next year there will be a new favorite thing.
A new obsession.
A new joke.
A little more independence.
A little less little.
That’s part of why I think these celebrations matter.
They give us a reason to stop for a moment and say:
“This is who you are right now. We see you. We love you. And we’re so glad you’re here.”
That’s what my mom gave me.
It’s what I’ve tried to give my own children.
And it’s what I’d be honored to help you create for someone you love.
Wonder is what’s possible.Whim is what makes it magical.
But the person we’re celebrating is where it all begins.
